WREATH OF THE MONTH – INSTAGRAM CHALLENGE

Hey, this is the second summary of our monthly Instagram challenge #wreathofthemonth

Without having told a lot of people about our new adventure Berit & I started this challenge because we are very passionate about wreaths. You guys make this challenge so beautiful – I wish I could post more of those wreaths { today I am actually cheating – as you will see by the end of this post – because I chose more than the actual winner and the 4 favorites 🙂 } THANK YOU SO SO MUCH FOR PARTICIPATING!

This breathtaking wreath had to be my winner! How many of you though that baby’s breath is a filling flower? I did! But these gorgeous flowers have become the superstars of floral arrangements in the past and they also make quite a statement on their own! Don’t you think? Hop on over to Wenche for the full beauty!

This time I was drawn to all those casually made wreaths, those gorgeous pieces of wreath art were made by Marta, Jess, Madeline and Emma.
You can’t get enough? Then you are a little something like me! I get a lot of messages from people asking how to make a wreath. Even though I have made a few tutorials, I would love to encourage you to start step by step. Like these two fab ladies did:

You can create a stunning image just by placing the flowers next to each other, just like Anja and Gudy did…
Writing this post a few new wreaths were turned in to participate in this challenge and I love looking at them. I hope you feel the same and will continue to wreath yourself away…
Hve a brilliant week,
A. XO

BUTTERCUP STATEMENT BOUQUET

I can’t tell you HOW HAPPY I am that spring has finally come! I love the wintertime and especially snow but this winter has really got me to my knees. I can’t remember being so tired in my life – grey weather for months – ugh! You probably can imagine what this spring, sun and the blooming nature has done to me… It woke me up and I am arranging and rearranging flowers every day!

Next to the greens around me, those dark red leaves have had a huge impact on me. Aren’t those beautiful? So shiny & new but then again so dark & dramatic.

Please don’t tell me, that these leaves leave you unimpressed 🙂
The rest of the images are here for you to enjoy!

WREATH OF THE MONTH {APRIL}

Hey,

its the time of the month again, where Berit from Marmelade Kisses and I are showing you our wreaths of the month. It was in March, when we started out our challenge – for all of you to join & enjoy – #wreathofthemonth

Every last day of the month we will show you the wreaths we made and a few days later we will announce 4 favorites and one winner!

But before we will announce the winners, its time for a little tutorial – as I got asked many times how to make a wreath.
This time I decided on a very easy one: all you need is a wreath out of foam rubber, pins & flowers of your choice.
cherry and apple blossom for a wreath
My philosophy stays the same, month after month: I do love to use seasonal plants or the things that I already have at home. I used cherry & apple blossoms, a dark leaf that just started to spring outside of our house and salmon colored rose petals that I have at home to make a potpourri.

I love using foam wreaths {as you can see, this one was already used quite a few times} because they are so easy to work with, and you can water the foam to keep the flowers fresh!

To make a foundation, I covered the foam with rose petals using pins:

After I was finished with the rose petals I started to adjust the bigger blossoms to the wreath – no needles were needed for this because the flowers had stronger stems and I could simply push it into the foam.

Little by little the wreath started to take form…cherry blossom wreath

By adding a few darker leaves the wreath got a little more dramatic & the contrast shows the variety of spring very well. Don’t you just love how the colors correspond?

I can’t wait to see more of your works – remember – you can use any material possible! Maybe I’ll surprise you with something other than flowers next month…
Like we already mentioned, today we will show our wreaths of the month, on Instagram you can find it very easy under #wreathofthemonth. If you don’t want to share on IG, you can easily let me a link to your blogpost under this post.
Enjoy and wreath yourself away!
